Getting BobbleHub
BobbleHub is free and doesn't need a purchase. Any account can download it. What you pay for is the hours your room is open — see Plans and prices.
Downloading it#
- Sign in on the website.
- Open Downloads.
- Press Download beside BobbleHub.
You have to be signed in. There's no download link that works without an account, and that's on purpose: the app is useless until it's linked to one, so handing out the installer to someone who hasn't got that far only moves the dead end later.
It's about 360 MB. The show engine is inside the installer rather than fetched afterwards, which is why it's larger than most desktop apps and why there's nothing else to download after it.
What you need#
| Windows | BobbleHub is Windows-only today. There's no Mac or Linux build |
| The other programs | NDI, OBS and DistroAV — the list is on What do I need to run a game? |
🚩 REVIEW — is "Windows-only today" the wording you want? It's accurate: the build produces a Windows installer and nothing else. "Today" implies others are coming, which is a roadmap statement rather than a measured one.
Installing it#
Windows will warn you, and the warning is expected.#
You'll see a blue box saying "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway.
Your browser may say something similar first — Chrome and Edge flag installers that not many people have downloaded yet, which for a new app is all of them.
This happens because the installer isn't signed with a certificate that Windows already recognises. It isn't a judgement about the file; it's Windows saying it doesn't know who published it.
🚩 REVIEW — approve this explanation before it publishes. It is accurate and it is the single most common place a first install stops. It also tells every reader the app is unsigned. If a certificate is coming, this section should say so.
After that it's an ordinary installer. You can change where it installs if you want to; the default is fine.
Updating#
BobbleHub updates itself. When a new version is out, the app fetches it and installs it — you don't come back to this page.
You only need the Downloads page again if you're setting up a second machine, or reinstalling.
Troubleshooting#
"Windows protected your PC" and there's no Run anyway button#
Click More info first — the button appears underneath it. It isn't shown until you do.
My browser deleted the file, or wouldn't let me keep it#
Chrome and Edge sometimes discard an unrecognised download rather than warning about it. In the browser's downloads list there's usually a Keep option on the discarded item. Failing that, try another browser.
The download button does nothing#
The link it hands you is short-lived, so a page you left open for a long time can hand out one that's already expired. Reload Downloads and press it again.
It says the download isn't available to my account#
BobbleHub itself needs no purchase, so this shouldn't happen. Tell us — see Getting help.
I'm on a Mac#
There's no Mac build. BobbleHub drives a Windows show engine, so this isn't a packaging gap that a download would solve.
Your players are fine on anything. They join in a browser and install nothing — a Mac, a phone or a tablet all work. See Joining a show.
