Linking BobbleHub to your account

BobbleHub runs on your computer. Your scenes and your CastTime hours live on your account. The hub key is what tells one that it belongs to the other.

You do this once per computer. If you run shows from a laptop and a desktop, each one needs the key.

Where your key is#

Your hub key is on the website, under your account. It's a short string that starts with bhs-.

Putting it in#

  1. Open BobbleHub.
  2. Click Setup in the top bar.
  3. Step 1 is Portal & hub key. Paste the key there, along with the portal address.
  4. Save.

The step turns green immediately, and the bar at the top of the app goes away. There's nothing to restart.

What changes when it's linked#

Before After
The Store is empty Your scenes and anything in your plan are listed
Scenes can't be downloaded Download, and they install themselves
CastTime can't start Your hours are readable and the room can open

Keep it to yourself#

Your hub key is like a password: anyone who has it can spend your CastTime hours and download your scenes. Don't paste it into a stream, a screenshot or a support message.

BobbleHub is careful with it too. Once saved, the app will only ever show you the last few characters — it can set the key but can't read it back, so it can't end up in a crash report or on screen by accident.

If you think your key has got out, replace it from your account.

If you're not linked yet#

BobbleHub still opens and still runs. You just won't have anything to load. Nothing is broken — it's the same app waiting on one field.

Troubleshooting#

I pasted my key and the Store is still empty#

Check the portal address in step 1 as well as the key — both fields have to be right, and a key with no address to send it to fails the same way an empty box does.

If the Store shows a message saying the portal didn't answer, that's a connection problem rather than a key problem. It'll say so in words rather than just showing nothing.

It says my key is set but nothing downloads#

Your account may not have anything on it yet. The Store shows what you own and what's in your plan — if that's nothing, the Store is honestly empty rather than broken.

I've changed computers#

Paste the same key into the new one. There's no limit tied to a machine and no unlinking to do first.

I want to disconnect this machine#

Clear the key in Setup, step 1. The Store empties, the hours stop being reachable, and the reminder bar comes back next time you launch.
